Spirit of Threads
2019
Every color, material, and design has a story to tell. Spirit of Threads began with a meeting with Tibetan monk Geshe Pema Dorje, followed by a visit to indigo master Axel Becker in the fjords of Norway, and finally a voyage to the foot of Nanda Devi in the Himalayas. These experiences sparked a collaboration with local Tibetan artisans with deep traditional knowledge of natural dyes, materials, and textile crafts. Spirit of Threads is committed to sustainability, embracing the belief that slow fashion is the future of the industry and can make a lasting difference.
The logotype is inspired by the connection between Sweden, Norway, and Tibet, incorporating the flowing mountain ranges of the Himalayas and the intricate threadwork found in the scarves. It can be extended into patterns used across various layouts. The color palette is derived from the natural dyes used in the scarves, while the typography strikes a balance between modernity and a delicate, handcrafted touch. The identity evokes a feeling of connection—between Scandinavia and Tibet, simplicity and intricacy, past and present. From Nature by Hand.
