Wayfinding Google HQ Stockholm
Google
2019

Google’s Stockholm office needed a wayfinding system and branded. With meetings scheduled down to the minute, international visitors arriving daily, and employees needing to find rooms quickly, the navigation needed to be simple and intuitive in this bustling environment.

To achieve this, the rooms were named based on their locations and proximity to elevators: short names for rooms near the lifts and longer names for those further away. Each floor was assigned two letters representing its wings, creating a logical, humorous guide.

Inspired by Google’s Material design, the physical space was created to reflect their digital design identity. Mesh, lacquered sheet metal and vinyl ran through the signs, at the same time as each meeting room was given a name and visual identity based on curiosities about Sweden. Through local anchoring, the office space was filled with personalitywhile maintaining clarity and design consistency.
